Inua Ellams Pit Party - T864052484

Poetry + Film / Hack: Interspersed with a screening of Walter Hill's stylised action film The Warriors, poets deliver lyrical meditations created in response to its themes of tribes and territory, poverty and struggle. Open Lab Rhythm and Poetry Party: Sprinkled with nostalgia and a sense of community, poetry and hip-hop songs alternate, reflecting the themes of Hill's film screened earlier that day. Featuring a gathering of artists, including Barbican Open Lab alumni, The Rap Party is a laid-back evening of eloquent speeches, dance and movement merged fluidly with the DJ's selections.

Inua Ellams' R.A.P. Party - T1047607719

20 years ago, one of the greatest albums in hip hop was released. Combining classic rap lyricism and poetry with soul, jazz and funk, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill grew to supersede the hip hop genre in which it was conceived to become one of the greatest albums in the history of music, indeed of all time. This special R.A.P Party gathers the most incredible contemporary poets writing to create and share new verse in response the timeless songs, the journeys, questions and reflections raised by Lauryn Hill.
