Stand-up comedian and columnist Shazia Mirza hosts an intimate evening of spoken word, poetry and music from an eclectic mix of artists showcasing the diverse cultures of Bradford, and culminating in a specially commissioned collaboration between celebrated writer and poet Lemn Sissay and multi-instrumentalist Inder Goldfinger. The format of the evening is inspired by traditional mehfils; historically, these were gatherings of courtly entertainment in South Asia, performed for a small audience in the homes and palaces of Muslim nobility, who acted as artists' patrons.
