A combination of hard-edged urban verse and dynamic music, Yussef and his band MY5.0 call it Poemology: an explosive mixture of rhythm and rhyme that crosses musical borders. Alternative, topical, witty and enlightening, Yussef is an engaging live performer who captivates audiences with his stunning delivery of his perceptive, often wry lyrics. The music takes many forms, everything from jazz to hip-hop, blues to reggae and calypso to salsa. One moment funky, the next soulful, Yussef s beat poetry for the mind and feet is a special experience. Yussef & MY5.0 have been completing work on their second album Against All Odds due out in May. Yussef has also appeared on a number of compilation albums including the War on Want charity album Harambee Africa. He s made appearances with the likes of Jazz Jamaica and Benjamin Zephaniah. His shows with MY5.0 have been broadcast by Channel 4, Carlton and BBC Radio 2.
