Details

Great Expectations, built from the text of American writer Kathy Acker, looks at the theme of identity in relation to the body and memory. The fantastic, almost life-like way that the puppeteers are able to move their puppets, is thrilling. In a combination of grotesque with finesse, the puppeteers throw themselves into the lives of the puppets and their possible movements - like giants playing with Lilliputians. And it wouldn't surprise if the puppets began to breathe or blink. They are that real, even when left to themselves.
