A Small Matter of Scale
T964138499
A public debate on the place of smaller scale opera and music theatre. There is a belief that to reduce the scale of production of major operas is a travesty. This view is echoed by many colleagues in the field of musical theatre when large scale musicals are presented in smaller venues. Is there a legitimate role for work on this scale, be it existing repertoire or new work developed specifically for smaller venues? Is there a place for 'chamber' lyric work? Leading figures from opera and musical theatre gather to discuss some of these issues.
