An illustrated talk on the history of the SS Great Britain is followed by a performance of All Aboard by Kim Hicks (whose one-woman Jane Austen sketches have frequently been performed at the Theatre Royal). This new show is compiled from the diaries and letters of passengers on board Isambard Kingdom Brunel's historic steam ship. Designed and built in Bristol, she made 32 round journeys between England and Australia from 1852 to 1876. During that time she carried more than 15,000 passengers on the sixty day trip, taking them through extremes of temperature and weather to a new world. From budding romances to men overboard, this is the fascinating story of some of those passengers.
