Details

Broadcaster, author and critic, Libby Purves presented BBC Radio 4's Midweek programme for an incredible 33 years. Described as ?a Wednesday morning gathering of the great, the good and the downright eccentric', the show produced some of the most extraordinary on-air moments in Radio 4's history. Libby joined the BBC in 1971 as a studio manager and by the mid-1970s she was a regular presenter on BBC Radio Oxford. She went on to become the youngest and first female presenter of the Today programme in 1976. Chief theatre critic for The Times until September 2013, her continued passion for theatre led to the formation of independent website, theatreCat, which reviews productions around the UK. She is the author of many books and continues to write as a columnist for publications including The Times and the Daily Mail.
