Sri-Lankan born George Alagiah is one of the most recognisable journalists in the country. He began his career in print journalism before joining the BBC, where he is now the face of the Six o'Clock News and a leading foreign correspondent. His fruitful career has led him to report on significant events in Africa and the recent tsunami in Asia. He has interviewed world figures from Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu to Yasser Arafat as well as contributing to several British newspapers.
