What is the Future of Cancer Research?
One in three people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their life. One in four will die. Encouraged by the media, are we getting ahead of ourselves in hoping that the new tools of cellular biology and genetics might eradicate the disease during our lifetimes? Tonight's speaker, Nobel Laureate and interim Chief Executive of Cancer Research, UK, Sir Paul Nurse, will address these questions. In the chair is Daniel Glaser, ICA Scientist-in-Residence. Café Scientifique is a place where layperson and expert alike can come to explore the latest issues in science and technology over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. No scientific knowledge will be assumed by the speakers so that everyone can participate in an informal and accessible atmosphere. Nash Room
