Randal Keynes OBE, Darwin’s great great grandson, talks to local historian Dr John Harcup OBE, about how the illness and death of Annie, Charles and Emma Darwin’s first daughter, affected Charles for the rest of his life and influenced his thinking. Randal Keynes is the author of Annie’s Box: Charles Darwin, His Daughter and Human Evolution. Annie died in Malvern on the 23rd April 1851 and was buried in Great Malvern Priory churchyard. This talk, scheduled for the anniversary of her death, forms part of the nationwide commemoration of Charles Darwin’s Bicentenary. Proceeds to Acorns, the Worcester children’s hospice, in memory of Annie.
