Gary Younge works for The Guardian. He described his experience as a black Briton travelling in the American Deep South in No Place Like Home: A Black Briton's Journey through the American South (1999) published by Picador. He will be reading from the book and discussing the issues it raises with Cecily Jones, who works on the colonial social legacy in the Caribbean and North America.
