John Plimmer and Bob Long: The Inside Track

T0
John Plimmer retired as a Detective Superintendent in 1997 after 31 years' service with the West Midlands Police. Robert Long was a soldier before deserting to get married. He then turned to crime and served two lengthy terms for armed robbery inside top security prisons before being released in 1986. Plimmer and Long knew each other as children in Birmingham and later went to the same dance halls and clubs, before meeting again years later when Plimmer arrested Long. In the mid '90s they decided to write a book together. The Inside Track is a fictional work based on the authors' interwoven lives during the '60s and '70s. They will read from the book and talk about the ironies of their collaboration after being on opposite sides of the law.
