June Whitfield presents a wonderfully entertaining evening in conversation with Samantha Norman, full of anecdotes and laughter as she recalls her long career at the very top of Britain’s comedy tree. Although she trained as a straight actress at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, June Whitfield has always preferred comedy, enhancing (and sometimes saving) any programme in which she has appeared. She has been the perfect partner for some of the greatest names in British comedy, including Tony Hancock, Morecambe and Wise, Tommy Cooper, Benny Hill, Arthur Askey and Frankie Howerd. In recent years, her role as Jennifer Saunders‘ mother in the hugely successful sitcom Absolutely Fabulous proved, as June herself declared, a 'shot in the arm' to her career, which led to roles in New Tricks, Last of the Summer Wine, Miss Marple, Midsomer Murders, The Royal and The Kumars at No. 42. June received an OBE in 1985 and a CBE in 1998, as well as the British Comedy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in 1994. Join her for a special ‘Audience with’ to include questions from the audience in the second half.
