Since Martin Bell's partisan reporting at Sarajevo was labelled 'journalism of attachment', the reporter as an individual has come under the spotlight. What happens to reporters in the field? Why are so many top correspondents unable to stay away from the epicentres of violence?How does their addiction affect the news that we read? Speakers include: Misha Glenny, former Times correspondent in the Balkans; Allan Little, BBC Foreign Correspondent and regular presenter of the Today programme; Gabrielle Rifkind, psychotherapist and advisor to the Oxford Research Group on the human relations side of conflict resolution; Janine di Giovanni, Foreign Correspondent of the Year 2000 (The Times).
