Nick Middleton is a geographer, writer and presenter of television documentaries. He teaches physical geography at Oxford University and is a Fellow of St Anne’s College. His main research interests are in the natural and human use of deserts. His work has taken him to many of the world’s deserts, including the Sahara, Namib, Gobi and Atacama. He has written more than 200 articles and sixteen previous books including Desert Dust in the Global System (2006) and The Global Casino: An Introduction to Environmental Issues (2008).
