One of the country's best-loved and most respected crime writers, PD James became a full-time writer late in life with her first novel 'Cover her face', published in 1966. Many more have followed, often featuring that superior detective and poet, Adam Dalgleish. Many of her stories have been successfully adapted for TV and radio. Her reputation has become international with awards from Britain, America, Italy and Scandanavia.
