Writers from the sub-continent who choose to write in an indigenous language are too rarely translated. As a result, we do not know them well in Europe. Perhaps, however, theirs is the authentic voice of the sub-continent. Speakers include Kaiser Haq, Ambai, Ranjana Ash, Rukhsana Ahmad and Debjani Chatterjee.
