In 1994, in a period of only one hundred days, over one million people were killed during the genocide. Nottingham Playhouse Associate Director Fiona Buffini spent three months in Rwanda in 2011 working with people from all ethnic groups to produce a piece of theatre that challenged racist stereotypes. Find out more about the project and the extraordinary people she worked with in this informal talk. This is part of The Rwandan Stories of Change Project led by Dr Nicki Hitchcott at the University of Nottingham, which aims to investigate the impact of the genocide on individual Rwandans in the 21 years since the genocide. As part of the project, the team will be hosting a series of seminars and events called Rwanda: After 1994 to promote awareness of the genocide and the consequences that many individuals are still coming to terms with.
