Theatricality in Early Modern France
To coincide with Cheek by Jowl's production of Andromaque, this talk by Sabine Chaouche, core member of the CESAR project and lecturer at Oxford Brookes University, will examine French Theatre in the Early Modern period. It will focus on the different theatrical genres and forms of acting from the revival of performances in Paris in 1629 to the French Revolution. Sabine will highlight plays by famous authors such as Molière and Racine but rare works such as the Opéra-comiques.
