Whilst collecting seeds in South America Tom and his friend Paul were captured by Columbian guerrillas and held for nine months. Happily, they were released unharmed and after a jubilant return, Tom set to work developing the famous World Garden at his home at Lullingstone Castle, Kent. A larger than life character, Tom has not only created a unique garden but has also become a TV personality.
