Underground Magazines
T0
The British underground magazine culture was launched in the 80's with The Face and I-D, which linked music, fashion and design. Their editors and contributors are now running the market-leading magazines. Can small magazines stay ahead of the game when their themes and obsessions are now covered by the broadsheets and TV? Or is their main use in providing a springboard into the mainstream for photographers and journalists? Speakers: Elaine Constantine, award winning photographer for Vogue, The Face and others; Judy Blame, who was part of the Buffalo crew who created the visuals for various iconic mags; Masoud Golsorkhi, fashion photographer before launching Tank; and Tony Elliott, founder and chairman of Time Out, publisher of I-D. In the chair: Alice Rawsthorn, director of the Design Museum.
