Park Lays Golden Egg

Nick Park s new animated film Chicken Run has sprinted to the top of the British box office charts with a take of nearly four million pounds, adding to the 27 million it has so far taken in the US. With the voice of Mel Gibson as Rocky the Rooster, the film also features the talents of Jane Horrocks, Julia Sawalha, Miranda Richardson and Timothy Spall, in a plasticine remake of the classic film The Great Escape. The film s Bristol based creators Aardman Animation are said to be “flabbergasted” by the film s success, particularly in the United States, where the humour and the accents might have stood in its way.
