In 1962, Secretary of State for War John Profumo, was convicted of having an affair with the mistress of a known Soviet Spy (Yevgeni Ivanov) resulting in scandal, resignation and this famous portrait. Song writer Don Black, playwright Christopher Hampton, director Richard Eyre and producer Robert Fox have also been linked to the project.
