Touring show of We Will Rock You

A full house, a standing ovation and Brian May on stage for the great guitar solos of the second act. Will someone please explain to me why I have only just seen this show for the first time? It is a fabulous night out, genuinely, no bullshit fabulous! Especially when Brian May turns up and comes on stage for We Will Rock You and Bohemian Rhapsody! This will definitely not be my last visit ...

The time is the future, in a place that was once called Earth. Globalisation is complete. Everywhere, the kids watch the same movies, wear the same fashions and think the same thoughts. It's a safe, happy, Ga Ga World. On Planet Mall Rock 'n' Roll has been banned for centuries. All musical instruments have been banned. Legend persists that somewhere on Planet Mall, instruments still exist. Somewhere, the mighty axe of a great and hairy guitar god lies buried deep in rock. The Bohemians need a hero to find this axe. But the Bohemians must find this hero before the Company does. For if the Ga Ga Cops get him first they will surely drag him before the Killer Queen and consign him to oblivion across the Seven Seas of Rhye.

A blend of Science Fiction, comedy and the brilliant songs of Queen, We Will Rock You, written by Ben Elton opened at the Dominion Theatre in the West End back in April 2002 ... where it's still going strong. Now, however, there is also the touring show which we have for a sadly short run in Bristol. Be assured, this is no watered-down country cousin, nope, this is the full Monty - loud, powerful, funny, sexy and, in a strange way, quite moving! For 50-somethings this is a real blast from the past, especially when Brian May himself is playing along!

SeatChoice have been reporting the success of this touring version for some time, at one point three od the touring venues were in its hot list of top tickets and today it sits at numbers 2, 3 and 8 ... a tribute to how great this show really is ... no, its it not high literature, but it is a trully great night out!

The cast and band are to be congratulated on their performances, especially the leads of Alex Gaumond and Sarah French-Ellis who has a pretty good sense of comic timing too. A special word for Kevin Kennedy as Pop and his rendition of "those were the days of our lives" - loved it. Thanks to the lot of you.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that Brian May turned up?

Go see it .. see you there!!
