The TRials and Tribulations of Mr.PickwickProduction Availability: This play can be seen at The Brighton Fringe Festival - may 10th,25th & 26th & at The Edinburgh Fringe August 1st - 25th.
It is a comic, one man tour de force looking at how Mr.Pickwick through variuous misundestandings is tried for breach of promise of marriage and finds himself incarcerated in The Fleet Debtors' Prison. Here having mingled with some of the most deprived citizens of early Victorian England he changes his philosophy on life. “Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd” is the opening line of the show and one that appears several times throughout and going to play a pivotal part in our production.
Sweeney Todd is a story that some believe to be true, but has never been proven and it is from a penny dreadful that the story came from. Penny Dreadful’s are a series of magazines that came out in the 1930’s. The Musical is very much a story within in a show
Against our backdrop of London with an original design fro our production, we will be telling the story as if reading it aloud from the penny dreadful or a newspaper. The news and media can manipulate and change the views of everyone today and that’s what we’re going to do with Sweeney Todd.
Keeping it’s original themes and all the blood and pies you can get, with a new innovative concept and a talented, energetic cast.

Audience members required for short online surveyAnnouncement - general: Dear All,
I am currently undertaking research into theatre-related travel as part of my Masters dissertation project at the University of Surrey. The main aims of this study are:
1) to establish how audience members travel to the theatre;
2) to investigate the reasons behind these chosen means of transport; and
3) to find out what is being done (and what could be done) to encourage greater use of public transportation for such journeys.
I have created an internet link to a survey, which asks questions about how audience members travel to the theatre. I'd be really grateful if after reading this, you would click the link and complete the survey - it is relatively short, only taking 5 minutes to complete, but this information is really valuable to my research.
Thank you for taking time to read this post, and even bigger thanks if you complete the survey! If you have any further questions about this research or how you can participate, please do not hesitate to get in contact.
Many thanks,
Andy Houckham
