Posted: 28th Jul 2011 by (Announcement - general)http://www.karlyates.co.uk/portrait-photography-london Audience members required for short online surveyAnnouncement - general: Dear All,
I am currently undertaking research into theatre-related travel as part of my Masters dissertation project at the University of Surrey. The main aims of this study are:
1) to establish how audience members travel to the theatre;
2) to investigate the reasons behind these chosen means of transport; and
3) to find out what is being done (and what could be done) to encourage greater use of public transportation for such journeys.
I have created an internet link to a survey, which asks questions about how audience members travel to the theatre. I'd be really grateful if after reading this, you would click the link and complete the survey - it is relatively short, only taking 5 minutes to complete, but this information is really valuable to my research.
Thank you for taking time to read this post, and even bigger thanks if you complete the survey! If you have any further questions about this research or how you can participate, please do not hesitate to get in contact.
Many thanks,

At Big Day Out Festival 2010
South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell
July 10th, 10pm
Adrift is a brand new site-specific show that is set in the post-flood, post-digital world. There is no text as sound is the method of communication. A group of lost souls are in a search for community, combing choreography, music and visual storytelling.
Adrift offers an atmospheric landscape of sound where the audience are invited to find their own meanings and experience traditional techniques of playing music outside. During the show, sound builds into music using horns, drums, tuned percussion, double reed instruments, giant bullroarers, organ pipes, foot pumps and brass.
The performance was commissioned as part of Lakes Alive and this will be the first full showing of Adrift in its complete touring form.

Smetana The Bartered Bride
7.00pm Britten Theatre
Michael Rosewell conductor
Our summer opera is a sparkling comedy that led to the foundation of an entire national school. Composed by Bedrich Smetana in the 1860s, The Bartered Bride pioneered the use of Czech speech patterns and Bohemian dance rhythms, creating a national style that paved the way for Dvorák, Janácek and others.
The opera provides a rich evocation of Bohemian village life, focusing on the fortunes of the lovers Ma˘renka and Jeník and their attempts to deceive their parents, the stuttering Vašek and the scheming marriage-broker Kecal; fortunately help is at hand in the shape of a sword swallower, a Spanish dancer and even a dancing bear! Smetana’s gloriously rich and colourful score, including the famous overture, ensures a hugely entertaining summer’s evening.
This production will be sung in English.
