JV2 2015 - T0893285174

JV2 2015 is choreographed and directed by Marilena Dara, Mafalda Deville and Athanasia Kanellopoulou. With the mission to develop, encourage and cultivate young talent and young audiences, Jasmin Vardimon Company (JVC) formed JV2, a programme culminating in a Professional Development Certificate. This year's JV2 are a vibrant and fresh new group of 14 young international dancers, hand-picked by Artistic Director Jasmin Vardimon. The Company has commissioned three female choreographers who have worked with the company in a variety of roles. Former JVC dancer Mafalda Deville's work Silence was originally created in 2013 and is an athletic and gutsy work, dealing with loss and longing that punches with a strong visual style alongside music from Marilyn Manson and Tchaikovsky. JV2 co-course leader Marilena Dara and former Jasmin Vardimon Company dancer Athanasia Kanellopoulou have created powerful new works specifically for this year's JV2 tour. "No other show has demonstrated the strength of dancers and the positive productivity of choreography for our generation. If you can catch this show do. It will make you look at dance in a whole new light " INQUIRE on JV2 2013Choreographer Marilena Dara. Choreographer Mafalda Deville. Choreographer Athanasia Kanellopoulou.

Park - T01767960780

Running time: 1hr 30mins (including one 20min interval). Park is an urban oasis, a place of refuge from ordinary life where eight characters play, fight, fall in love and learn to survive. In this playground of relationships, young lovers wrestle in a historic fountain, a graffiti artist sprays his story, a busker finds his only appreciative audience in a bag lady, and a flag-waving bully rants worn out political beliefs. Their stories intertwine creating a modern day fairytale that is alternately sharp, funny and cruel. Contrasting pieces set to an eclectic soundtrack that includes Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Brian Eno and Fiona Apple, Park has been reworked for 2014 with new 3D imaging, presenting a breathtaking collision of highly acute physical theatre, text, athletic dance and funky music, delivering fresh statements about our time.Director Jasmin Vardimon. Lullaby - T337894388

Feeling under the weather? Set in a hospital, Lullaby presents a clever, darkly disturbing insight into our relationship with health and sickness, in a production that is sometimes violent, frequently moving and always engaging. Lullaby eloquently displays Jasmin Vardimon’s trademark dark humour, incisive character studies, innovative use of interactive video projections and beautifully detailed movement vocabulary. Vardimon’s intensely physical dance theatre work has marked her out as one of the most exciting young choreographers in the UK. Returning to The Place by popular demand, these are the final performances of this acclaimed production.

Lullaby - T01183299331

Set in the depths of an anonymous hospital, ‘Lullaby’ is a piece of extreme physical theatre that features strong text, visual projections and imaginative use of camera techniques. Based largely on observations of hospitals and the fascinating intensity of human relations in this setting, Lullaby offers a witty insight into our relationship with health and sickness in a production that is sometimes violent, frequently moving and completely engaging. Five performers - Leon Baugh, Luke Burrough, Mafalda Deville, Kath Duggan, Jasmin Vardimon - take multiple roles in seven stories that happen simultaneously onstage. The stories highlight political issues surrounding the body such as violence, gender and hierarchy. In a lecture given by a male nurse, the body, both metaphorically and literally, becomes the site for an aggressive duel; behind the pristine façade of a sterilised room a doctor is blatant about his desire for his patient; while she manages to escape his wandering hands the audience experiences the whole sordid event through the eyes of the aggressor using clever camera techniques. While doctors and nurses flirt and fight with each other, ‘Lullaby’ eloquently displays Vardimon’s trademark dark humour, incisive character studies, innovative use of interactive video projections and beautifully detailed movement vocabulary.Performer Leon Baugh. Performer Luke Burrough. Performer Mafalda Deville. Performer Kath Duggan. Performer Jasmin Vardimon.
