Deluxe: Ripple/Bradley 4:18/The Intro - T599804689An all-new, live dance show in celebration of the company's 20th anniversary year. The double-bill with a special video introduction brings together collaborations from some of the world's most inventive and thought-provoking artists, including an all-female team of choreographers. Ripple - Ripple marks the UK debut of Chinese choreographer Xie Xin choreographed to a highly detailed electronic score by composer, lauded tap dancer and her long-time collaborator Jiang Shaofeng. The piece explores movement inspired by the memory of a person and the flow of energy that such memories and feelings possess. Beautifully fluid and lyrical, it sees the BalletBoyz company express new styles in contrast to their familiar athletic and strength-oriented work. Bradley 4:18, choreographed by Punchdrunk's Maxine Doyle, is inspired by the lyrics and story of spoken word artist Kate Tempest's Pictures on a Screen, about Bradley, a seemingly successful young man struggling to connect with the world around him. It is set to a score by Mercury Award nominated and Ivors Academy Award winning London-based composer, arranger and alto-saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi. Composed in parallel with the choreographic creation, it is a highly atmospheric, filmic score with a modern jazz flavour. Bradley 4:18 presents the six BalletBoyz dancers as different iterations of the character Bradley and how he might act at 4:18 in the morning. The Intro - Ahead of the double-bill, the evening will begin with a short film introducing the BalletBoyz in a new work choreographed by dancer and emerging choreographer Sarah Golding and set to Seed Ensemble track The Darkies as featured on their Mercury Prize-nominated album Driftglass. The piece introduces the audience to the dancers' and offers a look into their individual personalities and characters, and giving a flavour of the performances to come before they arrive on stage.Choreographer Xie Xin (Ripple). Talent: Mesmerics/Untitled/The Murmuring - T0967427209Mesmerics - is a piece Nunn and Trevitt created with Christopher Wheeldon in 2004 for three men and two women; Christopher has now re-worked it and re-created it for eight of theTalent's dancers. "We've always loved the piece," says Trevitt. "The music, a gorgeous score is by Philip Glass. We knew it wouldn't work in the old format because there's a lot of pointe work and traditional partnering, so Chris has re-invented it and we've worked with him in tiny moments through his busy schedule." The costumes have been re-designed by Amanda Barrow and William Trevitt. Kristen McNally, Soloist with the Royal Ballet is a fast rising choreographer and recently made the fresh, indie-ballet ?Mad Women' for New English Ballet Theatre at the Peacock. "Along with Kevin O'Hare, we're very keen to encourage the development of new artists and that's why we asked Kristen to make a new work for us at the Linbury," comments Michael Nunn. "In working with us she's been finding new ways to work with boys that she hasn't experienced before; we're really looking forward to the result." Alexander Whitley has chosen the subject/title of The Murmuring for his new piece; as well as a low, distinctive and continuous sound, murmurings is also the extraordinary undulating flight pattern of flocks of birds, particularly starlings. "We've known Alex as a dancer for a long time," says Billy Trevitt. "Last October we invited a few choreographers to spend the day with dancers at our studio in Kingston and then asked Alex to make a piece for the company. The Murmuring is a really interesting piece with a very well crafted, meticulous and moving structure to it; abstract, yet not." Alexander is working with costume stylist Fabrice Serafino and lighting designer Jackie Shemesh.Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon (Mesmerics). Choreographer Kristen McNally (Untitled).
