User Review: 30Nov19: This play was truly fabulous !
It really was so much more than I expected.
This was actually an early Christmas present to me from my brother and we went along together and, from what he told me about the play and then the (initially) very sparse looking stage, made me think that it wasn't going to be too much of anything,
Boy, was I ever wrong !
What a talented threesome ! …........and the rest of the crew behind the scenes keeping us on our toes with so many visual and audio effects which deserved a huge round of applause on their own merit.
I haven't seen a play that had so much in it. So many different layers and different levels.
It was actually bewitching and spellbinding and delightful and.......................well, everything you would want a play to be....... but very few actually are .............even close.
The actors were each brilliant and compelling.
The “smoke and mirrors” were superb. The little “snot” things coming out of his nose and changing into lizard type creatures. How did they do that ?
The mesmerising mobile “puppet train” which was lit up and bobbing across the stage.
I could go on and on. There were just so many layers to this (at first) seemingly quite innocuous play which turned out to be (quite quickly actually) a massive success.
The actors should have come back for a second bow as the audience were quite delighted and I'm sure that many, like myself, wanted to give them a standing ovation but, for whatever reason, we couldn't stand. Maybe the ghosts were still hovering.
Really fantastic night's entertainment. User Reviews
