About the Show/Event

A Christmas Carol
Information for A Christmas Carol at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds (Play). Dicken's original story of Ebenezer Scrooge and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet to come. This story has been adapted many many ways but the true magic and the great mix of fright and delight comes only from returning to the original. It's Christmas Eve in Victorian Leeds, but the cold-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge hasn't an ounce of festive cheer. As the cold night draws in, four ghostly spirits take Ebenezer on a magical journey through his past, his present and his future, hoping to show him the error of his ways. With Christmas spirit, fun, music and magic at its heart, this timeless Charles Dickens tale is brought to vivid life in the Playhouse's Pop Up Theatre.
Author Charles Dickens. Producer West Yorkshire Playhouse (in association with Hull Truck Theatre). Adapted by Deborah McAndrew. Director Amy Leach. Design Hayley Grindle. Music John Biddle. Lighting Josh Carr.
