The Waste Land

T01995720999
Eliot's strange poem of 1922 in performance. The poem expresses the spiritual crisis of modern man and dislocation, fragmentation as well as chaos are ever underlying. The Waste Land is a fascinating piece of performance poetry, which has been adapted for the stage where its emphasis on personal frustration comes across beautifully.
Author T S Eliot

with Nick Roth Quintet

Director Adrian Dunbar (Line of Duty) sets the poem in a multimedia staging for four actors, Stanley Townsend (All About Eve at the National; Informer and The Tunnel), Orla Charlton, Frank Mc Cusker and Anna Nygh. with a score for live jazz quintet by composer Nick Roth. Dunbar takes as inspiration the idea of Sibylline Fragments - throwing letters in the air and making sense of them as they fall.
