Details

Rough Crossing archiveAs a luxury liner steams its way across the Atlantic, Turai and Gal try frantically to finish their play in time for the New York opening. But the show depends on the music of a young composer - who can't compose because his girl friend, the leading lady, seems to be rekindling an old flame with the show's leading man, who isn't ready to admit that he is no longer the lover he was in his somewhat distant youth. Add lifeboat drills, the dramatic criticism of a cognac-tippling steward and other storms at sea for a fast-moving 1930s-style screwball farce.

User Review: 16Feb19: I'm a big fan of Stoppard but I was very disappointed with the quality of the script which failed to ignite any of the verbal fireworks that I associate with his plays. Instead we are treated to a sub-Coward style ploy without the wit or subtlety. Comes across as a pot boiler written after a rough night!
