From England With Love - T402989288From England with Love is a paean to the multi-layered complexity that is England. Through Shechter's choreography, the dancers will evoke the paradox at the heart of this open, generous, and soul-searching land, conflicted by its dark history and powerful attachment to deep-rooted traditions. They draw us into their search for identity and self-knowledge as they grapple with this complex system of values.Music Hofesh Shechter. Lighting Tom Visser. | |

The Other Seder - T434254000A night of dance, performance and live music which explores and subverts the Seder, the opening nights of the Jewish festival of Passover. Contemporary dance choreographer Hofesh Shechter (Uprising, In Your Rooms and E4's SKINS) will create a new piece of work, especially for the JCC, around the theme of punishment in the Plagues. Hofesh will collaborate with 6 dancers and filmmaker and animator, Shay Hamias. Performer Joshua Sofaer will also present a new JCC commission, turning the obligation to ask Questions at Passover into a Seder Cabaret. And to finish off the evening, 15-piece anarchic gypsy punk orchestra The Destroyers, compere Judy Batalion and dj Max Reinhardt will set a party vibe to bring down Wilton's crumbling roof. The Jewish festival of Passover celebrates the release from slavery and the Biblical exodus from Egypt. It is celebrated over 8 days and opens with the Seder which retells the story of the departure from Egypt complete with the 10 plagues. Each year, the story is retold in a set order. This year, Hofesh Shechter and Joshua Sofaer will retell parts of that story through their own artistic adventures. The Other Seder will take the form of an experimental cabaret. It has been deliberately set within Wilton's, the oldest surviving music hall in the world to enhance this experience.Producer JCC for London. Performer Hofesh Shechter. Performer Joshua Sofaer.
