Details

A film version of Puccini's famous opera, set in Rome in 1800. Cavarodossi, an artist and republican sympathiser, helps an escaped political prisoner. Cavaradossi's mistress, Tosca, becomes embroiled in the pursuit of the prisoner by the royalist chief of police, Scarpia. After Cavaradossi is arrested, Tosca yields to Scarpia in exchange for her lover's life, but tragedy ensues...
