Doug has once again agreed to share his fascinating adventures at venues throughout the North, featuring two presentations, "Life and Hard times" and 'A Crawl down the Ogre', supported by Ven Gelong Karma Jiga who will introduce the evening and present a short film about his work in Scotland and the work of Rokpa elsewhere. Doug was the first Britain to successfully summit Everest, along with the late Dougal Haston in 1975. He realised that the Sherpa's who assisted the climbers lived and worked under very harsh conditions and needed help. With this in mind he formed Community Action Nepal to help them. Since then he has dedicated his life to raise funds for over forty projects to benefit the Sherpa's and their communities. | |
