Dirty Dancing

Dirty DancingT1035179728
All the hits from the film's soundtrack, which includes Do You Love Me?, She's Like The Wind and Time Of My Life, are featured in the stage show along with some new numbers. The story has been re-written for the stage, but includes all of the movies memorable moments and some added scenes as well. The Houseman's take their vacation at a popular holiday camp, where youngest daughter 'Baby' meets dance teacher from the wrong side of the tracks, Johnny. There begins a classic love story through which we see that love can conquer all barriers and we learn that 'nobody puts Baby in the corner'!

Why doesn't Kym Valentine play Baby in London, When I found out she was in the show, I really wanted to see it -but then when it came over here, she's not in it? I'll probably still see it, but it is a great disappoinment she is not in it.

Watched this at the aldwych last week. Wellll, very odd. Wooden delivery, strange adaptation, but excellent dancing and singing. Woudnt go again though, and if forced, would choose a bigger more comfortable theatre.

My Mum and I saw the show on Friday and loved it! I don't understand the people below who hated it. It is true to the movie but with the added tongue in cheek humour that is a trademark of musical theatre! The core characters and supporting cast were enthusiastic and responsive to the audience. I'm sure their performances will continue to improve as the run progresses to match the enthusiasm and talent they already bring. The use of screens to change the scenery was innovative and really added to the production! Would definitely go again-certainly did not dissapoint!

i can't understand the bad reviews either, i thought it was fantastic, great cast, esspecially baby, well adapted to the stage, ignore the wannabe critics and go and see it for yourself, you'll love it!!

The reviewer that left at hafl time missed the best half, their loss. Aprt from a few sound problems, we thought the show was excellent and remarkable true to the original, given the confines of a theatre stage. It is a shame the producers have crammed more seats into the theatre because I have never spent so long in close contact with a total stranger and came out of the theatre with a stiff neck, back and legs. Given the ticket prices, I would expect a better level of comfort. I will get better seats next time even though I will have to pay a lot more. I don't want to be eye level with the ceiling again!

Why is Kym Valentine not Baby in London? She was the Star of the Show in this production around Oz and NZ! How could she be left behind??

What a disappointment...and on my birthday too. Sound engineers should be sacked, couldn't hear a word over the 'background' music... cast should not give up their day jobs...script seems to have been cobbled together without much rehersing...audience gave up and enjoyed it as a pantomime!
