King Cotton tells the epic story of the struggle to break free from poverty and slavery, seen through the eyes of Sokoto, a black slave working on an American cotton plantation and Tom, an impoverished mill-worker in the North West of England and is set against the backdrop of the American Civil War and the Lancashire cotton famine.
