CORONAVIRUS: currently, all theatres and related venues are closed. Shows are either being cancelled, postponed or rescheduled and we are trying to keep up with all the changes. There are currently few changes after May 2020 and many shows that were due for April have been pushed back towards the end of Autumn. Pantomimes are looking like a safe bet at the moment ;-)

Experience Macbeth as you've never seen or heard it before; the dark tragedy conceived by Shakespeare and set to the powerful music of Verdi, performed by Opera in a Box in the chilling and atmospheric tunnels under Bristol Temple Meads Station. Come face to face with the witches, witness Macbeth's ascension to the throne, and partake in Lady Macbeth's banquet to celebrate their successes. But beware what ghosts of the past lurk near. This production will be performed in a promenade setting, and will require the audience to move through the tunnels and stand for a period of 15mins. Some seating available on request. There are minimal steps in the tunnel, but the floor is uneven. Please dress appropriately for the venue. A drink and canape is included in the price as we welcome you to the banquet!Company Opera in a Box.

In this radical take on the seminal opera, combining bold visuals with a reconstructed score sung by a South African ensemble, Brett Bailey sets his Macbeth in a troubled, post-colonial Africa. Refugee performers, fleeing from conflict within Congo, encounter a trunk containing sheet music and gramophone recordings of Verdi's Macbeth. Inspired by the composer's musical adaptation of the Shakespearean tragedy, they retell the story from their own perspective - a conflict-ravaged, exploited homeland where a warlord and his wife seize power of a province and militia fight to the death over mineral resources. Running time: 1hr 40mins/no intervalPresented byThird World Bunfight. Director Brett Bailey. Design Brett Bailey. Music Fabrizio Cassol. Conductor Premil Petrovic.
