Rimsky-Korsakov's Mozart & Salieri follows the apocryphal legend that Antonio Salieri poisoned his rival and fellow composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart out of jealousy over his talent. Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908) used the short story Mozart and Salieri by Alexander Pushkin as libretto, which also inspired Peter Shaffer's play and film Amadeus. Mascagni's opera Zanetto tells of the encounter between young Zanetto and rich curtesan Silvia, who recognises her one love in the wandering poet.Company Time Zone Theatre. Director Pamela Schermann.

Alexander Pushkin's "little drama" Mozart and Salieri gave new life to an old legend: that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was poisoned by his jealous rival, the composer Antonio Salieri. It inspired Peter Shaffer's Amadeus, and this remarkable opera from the Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Time Zone Theatre's startlingly original production - which makes the audience witnesses, if not conspirators, of Saleri's murder plot - comes to Grimeborn after acclaimed runs in London and Vienna.
