The production is set in 1785, just outside Paris as Beaumarchais originally intended before the censors made him move the action to Spain. It is a fascinating time. Revolution is just around the corner, old systems are crumbling and there is a rich optimism in change, growth and love. The opera will be sung in English and will be directed, designed and lit by an experienced team from English National Opera, headed by Ian Rutherford. Judging by his critically acclaimed production of "Cosi fan Tutte" for Bushey Opera, a dull evening is out of the question.Company Forward Opera. Translation Jeremy Sames. Director Ian Rutherford.
