This extraordinary grand romantic opera, unperformed for 138 years following its truncated initial production in Vienna in 1864, was restored to its full glory and given its first complete performance in Montpellier in 2002. Subsequently a sensation at European opera houses, it was named "Rediscovery of the Year 2005" by Opernwelt. Delights include the famous Barcarolle in its original setting.
