Fleet Street never came knocking for the services of veteran local newshound Brian Squire. But when it comes to the fate and fortunes of the Heaton Express, he's enjoyed calling the shots for as long as anyone can remember. So when his beloved newspaper faces the unwelcome prospect of a takeover by their bitter rivals up the road, Squire and his dispirited colleagues are suddenly forced to confront an uncertain and hazardous future, as love, murder and betrayal all come to the fore.
