Certain Dark Things archiveThis second production from award-nominated physical theatre company You Need Me is a claustrophobic exploration of an illicit sexual relationship under Franco's religious dictatorship of the 1950s. A play in two parts, Certain Dark Things tells the story of Mikel, a young Basque boy, and his sexual awakening under a brutally repressive regime. We re-visit Mikel after Franco is dead when he struggles to face the truth of his own small, long-buried tragedy as the Basque culture emerges blindly from decades of fear and oppression.
