Mariana Pineda archiveWritten in 1927, Mariana Pineda is Lorca's second play and is based on the true story of the anti-royalist conspirator Mariana Pineda, who was executed in 1831. The play is a haunting and lyrical homage to the romance of the writer's native Andalucia, and to the courage of an extraordinary woman. A fascinating insight into Lorca's early work.
