Miseryguts archiveBased on Moliere's The Misanthrope. Set around the Scottish Parliament in 2001, this rhyming script is both contemporary and full of Liz's own humour. In Moliere's 19th century play, Alceste is a courageous yet comedic nobleman suffering troubled relationships with his lover and his times. Liz Lochhead wraps him up, bundles him into a fast carriage and drives him non-stop to the modern era, to be presented, like a nervous debutante, as Miseryguts. Will he fare any better now?
