Playland archiveAn acclaimed South African drama, set in a travelling amusement park on the outskirts of a small town in author Athol Fugard s beloved Karoo. A powerful allegory, it centres on events over New Year s Eve 1989, as two men -Gideon, a young white returnee from the border and Martinus, a black night watchman - meet accidentally. As the eighties become the nineties, they work through their differences and the shared nightmare of recent history towards reconciliation and the hope of peace.
