The Bald Prima Donna archiveThe trials and tribulations of 1950's suburban English life parodied in Ionesco's classic absurd comedy. Mr and Mrs Smith's living room on a typical English afternoon. They are typically English and speak of typically English things. However, the English evening is interrupted by some unusual guests. Who are Mr and Mrs Martin and where have they been for the last four hours? Will the maid Mary ever use her chamber pot? Will the irresistible Fire Chief ever find a fire? What exactly is going on? What has Bobby Watson got to do with al this and most importantly... Who is The Bald Prima Donna? In the words of Mary "Who could possibly be interested in prolonging this misunderstanding? and "lets make no attempt to find out".

Ever get the feeling that nobody's listening to you? Communication breaks down in this brilliant farce, subtitled an 'anti-play' and parodying empty middle-class Englishness. Arguably the first play from the Theatre of the Absurd, The Bald Prima Donna is both poignant and hilarious and promises to be a wonderful night out.Company Double Dutch Productions.
