In Korean with English surtitles. Running time 100 minutes with no interval. Supported by Sung Joo Group. This highly stylised Romeo and Juliet paints the star struck lovers story with striking images, glorious martial art sequences, live music and impressive dance, ritual and gesture. Korean in both temperament and setting, Oh Tae-Suk’s enthralling interpretation, freely adapted from Shakespeare’s most famous play, is a production of arresting beauty. The performers physical vocabulary, heightened emotional state and comic timing create a sensual fusion that lacks nothing from the absence of the bard’s language. You may never think about Shakespeare in the same way once you see what this group can do with it.
