Springs Dance Company is one of the UK's longest established contemporary dance companies, founded in 1979 and is at the forefront of professional Christian dance. Waterbugs and Dragonflies is based on the book by Doris Stickney and is set in the playful underwater world of the water bugs. When they experience the unexpected departure of one of their friends, the waterbugs feel a mix of difficult emotions but the dance finishes joyfully when they realise that all of the bugs will not disappear but instead turn into beautiful dragonflies. The Wemmick Story, is based on ‘You are Special’ by Max Lucado and is the heart warming story of Eli and his wooden creatures, the Wemmicks. Although troubled by feelings of failure and being isolated from his friends, Punchinello, a Wemmick, ultimately discovers that he is a wonderful and unique creation. Springs Dance Company is known for touring the UK and abroad, performing work that is dynamic, entertaining and uplifting and is renowned for making accessible high-quality dance performances that appeal to all the family. Waterbugs and Dragonflies, and The Wemmick Story are designed to improve and develop young children’s self esteem and engage the audience with touching tales of intrigue, discovery and delight.
