Prince Handsome upsets a witch and is turned into The Beast, a spell only to be undone by true love. Belle is trapped in the Beast's castle after her father makes a deal to escape and eventually falls for "the inner man" and releases the Beast from his spell. Wheelhouse Productions' ambitious new season at the Colour House Theatre kicks off with a handsome, if untypical retelling of Beauty and the Beast. The hideous Beast lives in his big mansion with his housekeeper, isolated by a curse until Guiseppe seeks shelter from a storm. Provided with food and shelter, Guiseppe repays the beast's kindness by taking a rose from his garden. The beast strikes a terrible bargain with him. He must return with the first thing he sees when he gets home. His kind and gentle daughter, Beauty must be taken to the beast. Will she be able to see behind his grotesque features, to the kind heart within and break the curse? A fantastic story involving magic mirrors, talking animals and fabulous songs. We continue the magical, colourful and acclaimed children's theatre style using professional actors, song, dance, puppetry and of course our own favourite owl, Tony, who has entertained thousands of families over the last five years.
